‘New and exciting opportunities have arisen for officers with a passion for public service to provide independent and impartial advice to the Police and Crime Commissioner in support of a safer South Yorkshire’

The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is a directly elected official, accountable to the public of South Yorkshire for the delivery of efficient and effective policing and crime services.

He has a duty to involve and engage the public, and wider stakeholders, so that their views can be considered and fed into the design and delivery of services that support a safer South Yorkshire.

The PCC sets out the policing and crime priorities in his Police and Crime Plan and then determines the budget and level of council tax policing precept required to deliver that Plan.  He is also responsible for commissioning victims’ services.

New roles have been created in the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner to work closely with the Force, partners, key stakeholders and other service providers to help the PCC fulfil his role and responsibilities.

As an Evaluation and Scrutiny Officer your focus will be to provide independent and impartial advice that supports the PCC in his oversight and scrutiny of service providers, including South Yorkshire Police, in their delivery of his Police and Crime Plan priorities.

You will work closely with the existing Evaluation and Scrutiny Officer, members of the OPCC’s Senior Leadership Team, and with partners, to design, configure, deliver, evaluate and review a programme of effective scrutiny, assurance and performance management activity.

If you feel you have the passion and ambition to help build a safer South Yorkshire, and have the resilience necessary to work in a fast and ever-changing environment, then this could be a fantastic opportunity for you.

If you would like to talk informally about the roles, then please call the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner – Tel: 0114 296 4140 or email: info@southyorkshire-pcc.gov.uk.  Prospective candidates may express an interest in one or more roles.
