Police Officer Numbers in Barnsley

Last year we increased overall police officer numbers in South Yorkshire – including the Barnsley District - for the first time since 2010.

Response to the HMICFRS Report – Both sides of the coin

Dr Alan Billings, South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner had today (Friday, 10 January 2020) responded to the publication of Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) report Both sides of the coin.

FORMAL REVIEW OF SERIOUS ORGANISED CRIME

The Government has announced a formal review of Serious Organised Crime. It will be led by Sir Craig Mackey, a former deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan police force and report in the Spring.

ONS CRIME STATISTICS FOR SOUTH YORKSHIRE

The ONS Crime Statistics for England and Wales have been published today (Thursday, 17 October) and show that there has been a slight increase in crime across South Yorkshire by 1%.

PUBLICATION OF THE ONS CRIME STATISTICS – JULY 2019

The crime statistics for 2018 have today (Thursday, 18 July 2019) been published by the ONS and South Yorkshire has seen an overall 2% increase in crime, compared to an 8% increase nationally.

CRIME IN ROTHERHAM

Whenever I go to community meetings and ask people in the Rotherham area what their main concerns are they almost always say either burglaries or speeding motorists.

LINKS BETWEEN POVERTY AND CRIME

Sometimes people ask me whether there is a link between poverty and crime. When they do, my first thoughts turn to my own childhood. I grew up in a very deprived part of an East Midlands industrial town.
