POLICE BUDGETS DISCUSSED AT THRYBERGH PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

Dr Alan Billings, South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner attended a meeting of Thrybergh Parish Council on Thursday, 22 February 2018.

The Commissioner spoke about the work of the police and crime commissioner and in particular the way the budget for South Yorkshire Police has been put together.

He said: “It was government policy to shift the burden of paying for policing interestingly on to the local taxpayer rather than central government.  This is why the precept would have to be raised by £12 for the year on a band D property.

“However, most properties in South Yorkshire are in band A and B and could pay less – between £8 and £1.33”.
