ACTION OPEN NEW PREMISES IN ROTHERHAM
On Friday, 17 November the Commissioner joined John Healy MP in opening the new premises for Action in the Parkgate, Rotherham location.
The new development means that Action can now provide invaluable housing and effective support for 55 young people in Rotherham. The project was funded through the ‘Platform for Life programme’, a government scheme that aims to help young people who are at risk of homelessness. With their help, Action are now in a position to support the amazing young people in Rotherham for years to come.
Dr Billings said: “It was a pleasure to help open this new facility in Rotherham. Action are doing an excellent job in working with young people, providing them with safe accommodation and support services that will help them stabilise their lives.”
The brand new accommodation comes in the form of twelve, two bedroom flats that have everything that our young people need in order to learn how to live independently in a space that they feel is their home and that they can make their own, whilst at the same time, having access to 24/7 support onsite from Action Staff.
Action CEO, Claire McGonigle, added: “This was a brave and ambitious project for Action, and it was amazing to see how everyone has come together to create a really great living space that can support the brilliant young people that are the reason why we’re here”. She continued by saying that, “We know that this fantastic staff team and building will be able to support the young people of Rotherham for years to come.”
