EASTWOOD GETS A VISIT FROM THE PCC
Dr Alan Billings South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner visited the Eastwood area of Rotherham to meet local business leaders and hear about some of the issues that had a bearing on policing.
The Commissioner spoke with Araf Fashi, from one of the property management companies in the area responsible for managing many rented properties in Eastwood.
He was particularly interested in hearing about how responsible landlords can work with the police and local authority to bring about better relationships within the community and lower incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour.
Dr Billings said: “This is not the first time I have been to Eastwood. Previously I have walked around with the local Police Community Support Officers and seen some of the good work they do. This time I wanted to hear from some of the local businesses, including landlords.
“Mr Fashi and his colleagues made it clear to me that good landlords also have a role to play in the overall management of the area. They can help with our understanding of what the needs of residents are and what patterns of occupation help or hinder building a more cohesive community.”
