PCC Supports SYP Exploitation Destroys Childhoods Campaign

South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Dr Alan Billings, has supported the launch of South Yorkshire Police’s new campaign, targeting child exploitation including sexual (CSE), criminal (CCE) county lines and neglect.

The campaign targets bystanders in South Yorkshire and rallies them to look for the early warning signs of child exploitation. It encourages people to report any suspicions to the police and seek support from partner agencies and charities who can help. The campaign has been created in collaboration with exploitation specialists across the force, local partners, and Rotherham CSE survivors throughout its development.

Following the launch, Dr Billings said: “This new campaign makes clear that children from any background can be at risk of exploitation and the signs to look out for, such as sudden changes in mood or behaviour, becoming secretive about their activities or whereabouts and unexplained gifts or money.

“I encourage anyone who believes that someone they know may be at risk of child exploitation in any form, to report it to the police.”
