PCC Visits Doncaster CCTV Room

South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Dr Alan Billings, visited South Yorkshire Police’s main CCTV room, in Doncaster last week, to see first-hand how the team manages surveillance for three of the county’s districts.

Dr Billings spoke with the team on their responsibilities and the challenges of monitoring a mixture of urban and rural areas.

Following the visit, Dr Billings said: “It’s always good to visit different sections of the force and see some of the many roles that work together to help ensure South Yorkshire is a safe place to live and work.

“I was taken by the clarity of the images captured on many of the cameras and the skillset required to operate them. Images captured all across the county help with piecing together crucial evidence, painting an accurate picture of a series of events and instilling public confidence.”
