The Office of the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) became part of the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority on 7 May 2024.
All Police and Crime Commissioner functions are now the responsibility of the Mayor of South Yorkshire.

The Commissioner visited the police dogs at their kennels and training centre in Sheffield, on Tuesday, 24 October, where a new litter is currently being cared for.

Moving forward

I became Police and Crime Commissioner a year and a half ago as a direct result of the child sexual exploitation scandal that engulfed both Rotherham Borough Council and South Yorkshire Police.

Encouraging the police

It is now a year since I became Police and Crime Commissioner. I was elected in fairly miserable circumstances. Public pressure had forced my predecessor to resign in the wake of the child sexual exploitation scandals.
