At the end of this month I will have been Police and Crime Commissioner for one year. I was elected last year when my predecessor resigned following the Jay Report on child sexual exploitation (CSE) in Rotherham.

One year on

A year ago this month Professor Alexis Jay published her findings into child sexual exploitation (CSE) in Rotherham. The report fell like a thunderbolt. For the first time, those in authority sat up and took notice. In fact we all took notice.

GRANT FUNDING FOR THE BRATHAY TRUST

Dr Alan Billings visited the Brathay Trust in Sheffield on Thursday, 16 July 2015 to present them with a cheque for £13,084 awarded from his 2015/16 Community Grant Scheme.

In response to the HMIC report published today, (21 July 2015) Dr Alan Billings said: “This report paints a mixed picture. This should not surprise us because it comes at a particular moment in time. The initial inspection was in May last year.

Dr Alan Billings, attended a meeting of the Unite trade union held in Doncaster's Trades and Labour Club on Friday evening. It was a very frank meeting and members were forthright in their questioning of the Commissioner.
