The Office of the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) became part of the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority on 7 May 2024.
All Police and Crime Commissioner functions are now the responsibility of the Mayor of South Yorkshire.

On Duty at Christmas

Christmas Message 2019

I am writing this on a cold and wet Sunday afternoon in December. But my spirits were raised immeasurably earlier today by the Barnsley Concert Band - whom I had never heard before - playing Christmas songs and carols at my local supermarket.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS 2018

"For some, Christmas is an important religious festival. "People will find their way to services in churches – from Christingles to Midnight Mass – to sing carols. In my part of Sheffield we also celebrate by singing carols in pubs.

GOODWILL AND HOW MUCH WE MIGHT NEED IT

As we head towards the season of goodwill it’s worth thinking about how much we might need it. One of the features of the last few years has been the breakdown in civility in so many areas of our life together.

2017 CHRISTMAS MESSAGE

“The Police and Fire staff carol service at Sheffield Cathedral was a very happy occasion. We were already in a good frame of mind because that day Her Majesty’s Inspectors had just rated South Yorkshire Police as ‘good’ for Legitimacy and Leadership.
