SOUTH YORKSHIRE POLICE AND CRIME COMMISSIONER RESPONDS TO JUDICIAL REVIEW JUDGEMENT

The High Court has today ruled that the decision to suspend former Chief Constable David Crompton, and then ask for him to resign, was unlawful.

At the conclusion of a lengthy statutory process, the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Dr Alan Billings, has made his decision to call for Chief Constable David Crompton to resign, with immediate effect.

SECTION 38 PROCESS REFERRED TO SOUTH YORKSHIRE POLICE CRIME PANEL

The Section 38 process, set in motion by the suspension of the Chief Constable by the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, has now reached the next stage.

INTERIM CHIEF CONSTABLE APPOINTED AT SOUTH YORKSHIRE POLICE

South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Dr Alan Billings, has appointed a new interim Chief Constable of South Yorkshire Police, until a permanent Chief Constable is recruited and appointed to the post in due course.

Dr Alan Billings, South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner said: “Following the result of the verdicts yesterday, the continuing criticism that has been directed at the Chief Constable and the eroding trust and confidence in South Yorkshire Police I
