Dr Billings attended the Dinnington Together Christmas Event held at the Dinnington Resource Centre on Thursday, 30 November.
The Commissioner and the Mayor of Rotherham Councillor Eve Rose Keenan were guests of Councillor Jeannette Mallinder of Dinnington Ward. Dr Billings went along to meet with members of the community and chat with the PCSOs who are located in the Resource Centre on a Wednesday between 1.30pm and 3pm.
The Engagement Team from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner held a stall at the event and engaged with members of the community who voted 82 to 77 on feeling safe in their neighbourhood.
Dr Billings said: “The event was extremely busy with lots of member of the community visiting the centre. There were young families queuing to see Santa. The reindeers proved extremely popular with the school children, especially with the snow falling.
“It is concerning that many people do not feel safe where they live. The new neighbourhood policing model should help with the problem of visibility of officers as will the Resource Centre being used as a base for police officers. Police can be contacted there should residents need to speak with them.
