Joint Independent Audit Committee
The Committee provides independent assurance about the adequacy and effectiveness of the governance, risk, data quality, internal control and financial management arrangements of South Yorkshire Police and the Police and Crime Commissioner.
It meets around four to six times a year, and carries out assurance activity in between meetings.
The Committee has the authority to investigate any activity within its terms of reference and the right of access to obtain all the information and explanations it considers necessary, from whatever source, to fulfil its remit.
The Committee is a non-executive function of the organisations.
